Why Do I Feel Better on Vacation Than I Do at Home?

Apparently, My Back Needed a Vacation Too.

I spent months blaming my body. Then I went on vacation… and somehow felt better.

I walked more.

I explored.

I went out to dinner.

I spent hours sightseeing.

And somehow, my body handled it.

Then I came home.

Back to the desk.

Back to the commute.

Back to the couch at night.

And a few days later…

there was that familiar stiffness again.

Wait.

Wasn't I just walking miles on vacation?

Maybe Your Body Isn't the Problem

Sometimes, it's not simply how much we move.

It's how we spend our days moving—or not moving.

On vacation, your routine changes. You may walk more, change positions frequently, spend less time at your desk, and break up long periods of sitting.

At home?

Eight hours at a computer.

A long commute.

Dinner.

Couch.

Bed.

Repeat.

And sometimes our bodies don't love the routine we've created for them.

Here's the Good Part

You shouldn't need a plane ticket to feel better. ✈️

At Primacare Physical Therapy, we can look at how you move, where you're limited, and what everyday habits may be contributing to your symptoms.

Then we help you work on the strength, mobility, and movement your body needs for real life.

Because if your body can handle vacation…

maybe it's capable of more than you've been giving it credit for.
